Buxton competition winner lands top gadget reviewer job
Nate Lanxon's video impresses CNET.co.uk judges so much they hire him
Last year Nate Lanxon entered a competition to win tickets to the exclusive Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas. His winning entry, a video of himself doing a mobile phone review, impressed the judges so much not only did he win the all expenses-paid Golden Tickets but he landed a job at CNET.co.uk, Britain's biggest online guide to personal technology and digital living.
Nate, a 22-year old self-confessed gadget nut and former computer science student at Leek College, Staffordshire University, made the journey to Las Vegas in January. While at the Consumer Electronics Show, Nate was asked to file several video reports about portable audio players, mobile media devices and smart phones. He did such a great job that on his return he was offered the job of reviews reporter.
Jill Orr, head of consumer media at CNET Networks UK, said: "As the UK's largest online consumer technology site we regularly hire people who live and breathe today's internet-enabled, gadget-filled world. When we saw Nate's video our editor instantly recognised Nate's potential."
Nate Lanxon said: "Technology is my life, winning the trip of a lifetime to the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas was amazing, but to be offered a job at CNET.co.uk was a dream come true.
